This is the translation of a Kannada poem by N S Lakshminarayana Bhatta. To listen to the original in its full glory, here -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_Pgidv1F5Q

Where has the heart slipped?
Beyond limits, has it tipped?
Wandering where I know not
Why it won’t stop I know not

From a shore at a faraway distance
Wafting in comes Parijata’s fragrance
Across all barriers installed
A familiar sweet pain recalled

Out in the sky a lone star sizzles
Out in the night the rain drizzles
Sitting in the dark is a lass
Sobbing in melancholy, alas!

From some unknown past janma
Aromas of bathing in this prema
Screaming emotions rip the heart to shreds
Can’t be expressed, can’t be suppressed

Civilization's a thin veneer. He who makes the folly of deeming it an end & not a means gets eaten by another's savagery | For deva-s, dharma & dEsha
